The Role:

The role is for a sales assistant to work Monday (10am-6pm) and Wednesday (10am-6pm) each week.
Flexibility to occasionally swap days or cover an extra shift is essential. I have recently returned from maternity leave myself and work Thursdays and Fridays, but inevitably with a baby under a year old at home, there may be times when I need to rearrange things!
In the few weeks before Christmas, some extra hours will be required to help cover the busiest time of year.
This is a temporary role for one year starting the first week of April, to cover maternity leave.
Initial few training shifts may be different to your regular working hours, this will be flexible.
Working mostly solo in the shop once training period is complete.
Wage £12.21 per hour (the new living wage effective from April 1st), plus staff discount, workplace pension (where eligible) and statutory paid annual leave.

Your duties will include:

Serving customers, gift wrapping, processing incoming stock deliveries, picking and packing online orders, photographing products, adding descriptions and photos to product listings for the website, cleaning and tidying, creating displays, cash handling, stocktaking and keyholder responsibility.

What I’m looking for:

A self motivated and hard working individual who can work independently, while communicating well with other members of our small team.

Experience in a similar retail environment is essential as I'm not long back from maternity leave myself and don't have as much time as usual for training. I need someone who can hit the ground running and get to grips with our system quickly.

Experience in jewellery sales specifically would be a bonus but not essential.

Experience using Shopify or a similar POS/website system would be absolutely ideal, but not essential as long as you're tech savvy and a quick learner.

Someone who is friendly, polite and happy to chat with customers.
Being reliable, responsible and trustworthy.
Ability to think on your feet and stay calm under pressure.
